A Bit About Me
Why I Write
I’ve been writing most of my life. At a young age, I developed a deep love for words and languages. I learned to read at 3 years old, and still can’t live without books. While in school, I studied French for 8 years, and took classes in linguistics, journalism and Japanese (though don’t ask me to speak it). I even taught myself a bit of sign language. And I love doing crossword puzzles. The challenging ones.
Silly as it sounds, I am often quoted as saying, “Words are delicious!”, and I firmly believe that. Words can be woven together to create vivid images that have the power to arrest your senses—sight, smell, taste, touch. Words are definitely a catalyst for kindling emotions.
I guess you get the picture. I love the artistry of weaving words. Color me nerdy.
My name is Robin Foster. And I’m ready to write for you.
My Career & Education
My expertise is in brand positioning, marketing strategy, and copywriting. I spent the last 30+ years working in advertising agencies and corporate marketing roles. I am now working for myself as a marketing copywriter and brand strategist. During my career, I spent 10 years working for one of the world’s largest ad agencies (Ogilvy & Mather Advertising), several years in smaller, independent ad agencies, and another 10 years serving as Director of Marketing and Brand Development for one of the country’s largest grocery retailers (Food Lion). I also hold Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in International Marketing.
Throughout my career, I wrote constantly. Strategic plans, brand positioning documents, presentations, speeches, radio scripts, print and digital ads, websites — you name it, I wrote it. I earned a reputation for great writing, so I was often tagged by my bosses and co-workers to write things for them. While others loathe the idea of having to write, I find it liberates me and brings me joy.
